Lager is a German word meaning storage. It is also a beer type that uses malt barley and is brewed and stored in low temperatures. Lager brewing has gone through several improvements since the medieval period. The latest process invented by Morton W. Coutts in 1953 was the continuous fermentation method. This process allowed a faster pace in lager beer production although there were some differences in the flavor.
Pale lager beer gets its type from the appearance itself. It may appear very pale to golden with some bitterness of the hops. This is also the most widespread beer all over the world. Budweiser is known to be the most selling pale lager. Dark lager on the other hand usually has an amber to dark reddish brown color. But during the 1840s, they were mainly dark since pale lager was only invented during the latter part of the 19th century.
